Our new drill-saw line is on its way

We have been busy for some time now with the arrival of a new drill-saw line from APS. Holland Staal has made a very deliberate choice for the machine from APS.

The reason for this choice is that the drilling unit can perform its operations on different axes simultaneously and independently of each other, both vertically and horizontally. This is not yet possible with other drilling units. With current drilling units, the axes do not move horizontally independently of each other. As a result, the units can only work simultaneously if the operations (drilling, scribing, milling, centering, etc.) are exactly opposite each other. In the new situation, the axes also move horizontally independent of each other. Therefore, the operations do not have to be exactly opposite each other to engage all axes. Such a drilling unit is not yet produced by other suppliers.

Apart from the drilling unit, this drill-saw line has an automatic tool changer. This changer is meant to increase productive running hours without adding extra hours. The material transport speed can then be increased to 60 meters per minute. Together, this should provide a significant boost in productivity!

The new functionalities for us – such as scribing – will shorten the assembly time in the factory. This will allow us to process more tonnage per day and shorten the turnaround time of projects. All in all, these are very interesting developments that come with this machine. Developments that will certainly strengthen our position as a steel construction company.

Below are some images of the new drill-saw line under construction.
