BIM in Practice: Holland Staal involved in the new construction of Noordwest Ziekenhuisgroep

For the large-scale new construction of the top clinical hospital of Noordwest Ziekenhuisgroep in Alkmaar, we are responsible for delivering and assembling the steel structures. This project is a strong example of how BIM (Building Information Modeling) contributes to an efficient, low-error, and well-coordinated execution.

The entire new build has been developed in a detailed 3D BIM model, enabling all parties involved – from design to construction – to work with the same up-to-date information. This makes it possible to identify potential issues early on and optimize coordination between steel, installations, and architectural components.

“We operate at a high level when it comes to BIM. Thanks to the model, we can coordinate the steel in detail with other disciplines, even before it leaves the workshop,” one of the project members explains.

The construction is being carried out in three phases. Phase 1 includes the new OR complex, emergency department, inpatient wards, and an underground parking facility. The first delivery is scheduled for 2026.

We are proud to contribute to the realization of a future-proof and sustainable hospital in close collaboration with partners such as MedicomZes and ULC Installatietechniek.
